New Curriculum for Excellence Short Films - Impact and Benefits of CfE

The Scottish Government has published four new short films on the Engage for Education website - three sector specific, featuring a nursery, primary and secondary school, and one combined - in which learners, parents and teachers describe in their own words the impact and benefits that Curriculum for Excellence is having in their establishments.

If you want to find out more about potential careers in the Oil and Gas industry for advising learners, OPITO’s new careers website www.myoilandgascareer.com is a one-stop-shop for information on careers within the oil and gas industry.
Myoilandgascareer.com is aimed at anyone looking to find out more about entry routes into the sector and details the breadth of careers available. As well as providing information on training and development, the site offers a range of education tools as well as an ‘ask a professional page’ which allows users to post a question to be answered by an industry representative within five working days.
Scottish Career Factsheets
Scottish IAG Fact Sheets - 2011
These fact sheets are a useful resource for learners to find out more about the different sectors of employment and help them to make informed decisions about future jobs and careers. They were produced by the Alliance Scotland with the Skills Sector Councils input, with support from Skills Development Scotland. Each Fact Sheet focuses on a range of sectors, from banking to butchery, engineering to healthcare, and fish farming to mining, among others.

This group of six case studies highlights the positive impact that developing entrepreneurial skills has had on the confidence and self-esteem of young people in primary and secondary schools across Scotland. The case studies also embody the opportunities to develop skills across the curriculum that young people are entitled to under Curriculum for Excellence.
Developing Skills for Learning, Life and Work - Case Studies in Primary and Secondary Schools
These new case studies (September 2011), featuring three primary and three secondary schools around Scotland, demonstrate progression in the development of skills for learning, life and work within Curriculum for Excellence, including in the key areas of literacy and numeracy, confidence building, employability and working with others.

My World of Work aims to help people plan, build and direct their career throughout their lives. Providing information on skills, learning and employment, it supports the Scottish Government's ambitions for the improved delivery of an all age, universal careers service.

Letter from Colin MacLean, Chair of the Curriculum for Excellence Management Board, on CfE implementation priorities for 2011-12
